What's a kilowatt?
A kilowatt, or kW for short, is a unit of power that measures the rate of energy conversion. The average
annual electrical energy consumption of a household in the United States is about 8,900
kilowatt-hours.
"Watt" does this mean for the environment? Every year, a 10 kW solar
or wind system is reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly. That’s like eliminating 953 gallons of
gasoline, or recycling 2.9 tons of waste instead of sending it to a landfill.
